HHTH wanted to give all our children at Monde School a really carefree and fun day that they would never forget. For one whole day they had no worries and they did not think about being hungry. Janco and Wayne assembled a bike to be given to one of our high school orphans. Clive and Suzanne, owners of Dance New York Studio (where Izabela holds our Charity Ball) donated the money for this bike for a child who has to walk a long way to school.
The great surprise was the Jump Castle that our “go to guy” Neal Howard mysterious found for us.
The children had never seen anything like it out in the Bush where they lived. But there was no water for the slide. One half of the Castle was empty.
The Sizinda High School girls solved our problem. They did what they do every day of their life... hauled the water from a distance.
The water slide was in operation and squeals of delight filled the air. 0ver 100 children saved up memories to last a lifetime.
The “too cool 😎 to try the slide” high School boys finally couldn’t stand it any longer, and came over to see the fun up close and personal.
Head Man Mpalapaulm and Head Master Ruth could not wipe the smiles off their faces seeing the children so happy.
The the “Pied Piper,” Janco, started the contests of the day. Our plan was to make it fun and fill tummies. All prizes were food and drink treats.
The potato sack races were a cause for challenge! The girls were determined to show the boys their prowess.
Some nearly disappeared in the hole.
We laughed our hearts full at the wheelbarrow races.
All the kids were “serious as sin” when it came to the tug of war. Sweat, blood and tears went into that one.
Marthur Milanzi was the lucky winner of the bicycle. She cried with tears of unbelievable joy.
Babongile, Shylet, Tinevimbo and Marthur were the happy winners of special
prizes.
Food was also passed out to the guardians who came to witness the happiness
of their children. They received oranges, chips, rice, and
suckers.
The happiest moments were when the children saw the castle taking shape.
Janco had to demonstrate how to play on it because they had never seen such a
thing. But guess what? It only took once for them to learn.
The children sang songs of gratitude, and the parents expressed their
heartfelt gratitude to HHTH for all they had done in the last 6 years in the
Monde Village. A glow
of thanksgiving filled our hearts to see all our little ones have fun with
great abandon. Each child left the field reluctantly, carrying their joyful
memories with them... sigh...
Until next time... From the Bush with Love ❤️,
Sidney
